The latest news from LRPS (25.09.2023)

25th September 2023

Attendance: It is hugely important that your child is in school, on time every day. We have a number of exciting attendance initiatives to encourage good attendance in school. See the ‘Attendance’ section of our website for more information. If your child is unwell and not able to come to school you must inform us by 9am on the day of your child’s absence. You can do this by calling us anytime on 0191 267 4315 (Select option 1) or by emailing admin@lemingtonriverside.newcastle.sch.uk . We always follow the NHS guidance on illnesses which can be found by clicking here.

Household Support Fund (HSF): This Friday 29th September we will be joined by Ellie from the Citizens Advice Bureau who will be helping parents/carers who are eligible to apply for a one off payment of £200. To be eligible you must meet the following criteria:

To be eligible for a one off £200 payment from the Household Support Fund (HSF) you must:

  • be a resident in Newcastle upon Tyne, and
  • be the main householder (i.e.  responsible for the household bills), and
  • have a deficit in their budget (i.e.  have more money going out than coming in), and
  • seek advice from one of our Advice Compact partners to address the issues causing the deficit in budget.

Ellie will be based in the school dining hall (top building) for a drop-in session between 8:30am and 9:15am on Friday.

Riverside Wraparound: Our wraparound provisions continues to operate every morning from 7:45am and until 6pm each evening. Please note, due to low numbers attending, bookings MUST be made at least 24 hours in advance of children attending wraparound. Thank you for your support with this. To book a place for your child, please call or email the school office.

Drop off and pick up: Thank you to parents/carers for continuing to help staff dismiss our children safely and efficiently at home time. The new barriers for Y1/2/3 classes are helping and we continue to kindly request that parents/carers allow staff to safely hand over your child to you directly.

Playground Buddies: Last week we were joined in school by Mrs. FJ, an anti-bullying ambassador. Mrs. FJ worked with children across the school and trained up our brand new playground buddies - you can find out more about our playground buddies by clicking here. Our anti-bullying theme continues next week with the visit to Lemington Riverside of north-east pop star Zak Hull!

Boggle Hole 2023: Two weeks ago our year 5 and 6 children enjoyed a fabulous adventure on their three day residential to Boggle Hole in North Yorkshire. The children were all a credit to their families and Lemington Riverside! This was a fully-funded residential for our children thanks to a donation we receive from the INEOS company.
