Welcome to Lemington Riverside Primary School
Welcome back to school! We hope you had an enjoyable holiday.
It has been a really pleasant day in school today. The children look really smart in their school uniform (thank you for your support in this) and they have settled down quickly to work!
Congratulations to Miss Stephenson who was married during the holidays and is now Mrs Crowe, we wish you and Mr Crowe every happiness from everyone in school.
We are delighted to inform you that we have been successful in achieving a nationally recognised award for the support we offer in school to our young carers.
Young Carers are children under 18 who are caring unpaid for a family member or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or addiction problems. This role may mean that children are offering more help at home than would be normally expected of a child. This could include: additional chores / housework (above normal expectations), running errands, supporting adults to attend appointments, helping someone to take medication, providing emotional support to an adult, helping an adult with personal care such as bathing / washing, dressing etc.
We understand that this valuable role may impact on a child's educational achievements. we have therefore offer a homework club, emotional support, a listening ear (drop-ins and one to one), support to parents / whole family and also health support from our School Nurse (where required)
As we continue to develop this work we would love to hear your suggestions for how we may further this. Please contact Paula Stones or any member of staff in school if you would like to discuss the possibility that your child may be a young carer.
Once again congratulations and a big thank you to our Young Carer's Team in school - Paula Stones, Mrs Hinshaw, Mrs Buxton and Miss Jeffcock!!
Our KS2 SAT results this year are amazing!! The children have worked really hard and have demonstrated excellent behaviour throughout their time in school.
Reading - 94% - 38% at higher standard
Writing - 88% - 13% at greater depth
Maths - 100% - 38% at higher standard
English, Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling - 100% - 56% at higher standard
Congratulations to you all!!
Good Luck to our Year 6 children who are starting their new schools in September! It has been a pleasure to have you all as members of our school and we wish you all the very best for your future- work hard and be happy!!

Who are young carers?
A Young carer can be any child or young person up to the age of 18 who takes responsibility for looking after someone else - usually a parent or sibling, but it could be a grandparent or another relative.
Young carers look after someone else because that person may have:
- Mental ill health
- Difficulties with alcohol or other substances
- A long term illness
- A life-limiting illness
- A disability
- A learning disability
Young Carers Drop In
There is a drop in on Wednesday at 9am for parents and at break time in school for pupils.
We have updated our Behaviour Policy and this is available on the school website. There are quite a few changes to it.
We are an Operation Encompass School. We will be informed by Social Care if any child has been involved in, the previous day, a domestic violence incident. This will enable us to know about children who are experiencing difficulties and support them as they may need it. If you have not received a letter about this or would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact us.
In the light of the new 'Keeping Children Safe in Education' document we have recently updated our Safeguarding Policy. This is available on our Parents Section of the website under 'Policies'. We urge you to view it.
We would like to say thank you to parents and carers for continuing to help your children to learn their spellings!! We have recently looked at their books and there is a definite improvement in spelling across the school! The children are also improving their weekly spelling scores. Your support has had a positive impact!!
Family Support drop in - Paula Stone is available every Wednesday (term time) to give support with children's health, behaviour, attendance, problems at home and at school. You can also talk to a Nurse who will be there the first Wednesday of every month, in the Parents Room, Key Stage 1 building, 8:45 - 9:30am.
Thanks to Councillor David Cook for coming in to work with Eco and School Council, and Y3 to share ideas to help us to get involved in the local community.
