Year 6 Inspired by Former Pupil and Sports Journalist
Year 6 pupils at Lemington Riverside Primary School have been developing their journalistic writing skills with the help of sports journalist Mark Carruthers, a former pupil of the school.
Mark worked with the class to explore what makes an effective newspaper article before setting them a challenge of writing their own. He returned to school this week to judge the competition and was blown away by the exceptionally high standard of writing produced by all of the children.
After much deliberation, Mark selected Adepa and Racheal as the overall winners. To celebrate their success, Mark secured two fantastic prizes: a signed photograph of Nick Pope and a signed Newcastle United shirt signed by Kieran Trippier.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Mark for volunteering his time and sharing his expertise with our pupils. It is always a pleasure to welcome former pupils back to Lemington Riverside and to see them inspiring the next generation of writers.
