Welcome to Lemington Riverside
Welcome to a primary school that dares to be different and celebrates its uniqueness…
We are Lemington Riverside Primary School – an inclusive, vibrant school at the heart of our community, overlooking the beautiful River Tyne. We welcome children from age 3 to 11 and are a one-form-entry school, meaning there is one class in each year group.
Our school is a magnificent Edwardian building, with spacious classrooms, break out spaces, libraries, ICT facilities, a sensory room and an exciting outdoor environment. We also have a community hub on site, providing additional activities, services and support to our children, families and the wider community.

This year, we’re inviting children to ‘Go Wild about Reading!’ as we explore the classic tales of Aesop’s Fables and the important messages they share.
Children are welcome to come to school dressed in:
• Comfy clothes perfect for curling up with a good book, or
• Animal prints and patterns to show their wild side!
Across the day, classes will enjoy a range of creative activities inspired by their chosen fable, including drama, storytelling, art, debates and more. We’ll also be opening our special Reading Tent for children to enjoy!
Children will also receive a book voucher that can be spent in a range of shops.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our children develop a lifelong love of reading. 💛

At Lemington Riverside we are proud to offer free breakfast for every child, every day at our school.
We also offer a paid for wraparound care service from 7:45am each morning and until 6pm every night. We run this on a not-for-profit basis, meaning the money we make only goes to pay running costs.
We would appreciate if all parents/carers could take a couple of minutes to give us your views on our current offer and views on some possible proposals for the future. It will take you no more than 2 minutes. Thank you.

You may remember that a few months ago we shared with you that Newcastle City Council had increased school meal prices by an amount that we felt was quite a lot in one jump for families.
As a school, we have subsidised the price of our school meals for our families to keep them at the previous price since last summer. We know that everybody is under financial pressures at the moment and your child having a hot school meal should not be an extra financial pressure.
Yesterday, we were informed that there will be a further 10p rise per day for the cost of a child's meal from April 2026.
We can confirm that Lemington Riverside will continue to subsidise the cost of school meals for our children until at least the end of the summer term 2026.
This means that our school meal charges for families who pay for school meals will be:
£2.50 per child, per day (This means school will subsidise the price of each meal by 60p per day).
We continue to lobby politicians, on behalf of our families, on the price of school meals - ultimately we are of the view that there should be a universal free school meal offer for all children who attend primary schools.
We'll keep you posted...
