Being on time every day really matters...

A little message on the importance of being on time every day...

Thank you to the vast majority of parents/carers who ensure that their child arrives at school on time for 9 every morning.

As a school, we have deliberately designed our day to allow for a 15 minute arrival time anytime between 8:45-9:00am - when children arrive, everybody can grab a hot, toasted bagel to eat in their class with a book. We also have regular incentives for being on time such as 'Punctual and Proud' days when all children in school on time for 9am on a given day are put in a draw to win a £50 Amazon voucher. We also have 'Champion Days' the day after Newcastle United Champions League games where children can win a Newcastle United shirt if they are in school, on time.

Being on time is really important as arriving late can make children feel uncomfortable as they are entering their lessons after they have begun which can mean they feel unsure of what to do straight away or a little bit embarrassed.

This morning 25 children arrived to school after 9am and when we totaled up how much learning was lost today it was 227 minutes. Lateness also causes disruption to the school office at the busiest time of the day when staff are busy checking registers, etc. If a child arrives after 9:30am then we have to mark them down as absent for the morning session which has a direct impact on their overall attendance percentage.

If you find you are struggling to get your child to school on time regularly then please reach out as we always want to work with our families to solve any problems and help you get to school on time.

Thank you!
