October 2023 Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we approach the end of a busy first half term here at Lemington Riverside we have the latest news and dates for your diary.

Spooky Friday:

On Friday 27th October children are welcome to come to school dressed in a Halloween costume if they wish for ‘Spooky Friday’. There will be some spook-tacular prizes and activities across the school throughout the day! Please can we ask that all costumes are appropriate for a primary school environment – thank you!

Stay and Play: Halloween Special

On Tuesday 24th October we will be hosting a Halloween special of ‘Stay and Play’ for 0-3 year olds and their grown-ups. ‘Stay and Play’ is free of charge to attend and there is no need to pre-book, it is a joint initiative ran by LRPS and Healthworks Pre-School.

Football success:

Lemington Riverside Girl’s F.C. have had a remarkable start to the new season! Last week they reached the final of the Newcastle stage of the English School’s FA Cup, losing narrowly to Walkergate. They are also unbeaten in the league so far this season and haven’t conceded a single goal! Well done girls!

Attendance:

Whole-school attendance has been very strong recently, with 98% attendance in school last week. Thank you for ensuring your child is in school, on time every day, it really does make such a difference. Remember, if your child is not going to be in school for any reason, you must let us know by 9am on the first day of absence.

Poppies and Poetry Day:

To mark Remembrance Day we will be welcoming the ‘West End in Schools’ drama group to Lemington Riverside on Wednesday 8th November – they will be working with children across the school to mark this special occasion.

School photos day: On Thursday 16th November the photographer will be in school taking individual and family photos. As ever, there is no obligation to purchase any of the photos, but each child will have their photo taken on the morning. We will organise in-school sibling photos on the day, but if you have pre-school aged children and would like them in a photo with their school-aged brothers/sisters, please come to the Dining Hall for 8:30am on the morning. If your child does not have pre-school siblings, they should come to school at the normal time and we will organise their photos.
