World Book Day 2022 @ LRPS

18th February 2022
We are delighted to be celebrating the 25th World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March 2022.

At Lemington Riverside Primary School, we love books! We read in school every day, across all subjects and on Thursday, 3rd March, children will celebrate their love of words and stories by taking part in a range of exciting activities. The highlights are listed below:

  • EYFS will be surprised by a special visitor!
  • Children will partake in a World Book Day video adventure.
  • We have invested in a reading tent and the children will have the opportunity to read with peers across year groups. This will be filled with blankets and cushions and be the perfect setting to curl up and read. Afterwards, they can enjoy hot chocolate and cookies with friends.
  • Design and then create a favourite book character onto wooden spoons.
  • Children will be focusing on a special book within class.
  • All children will receive a World Book Day voucher which will entitle them to claim a free book from a local super market or book store.
  • We will have a special competition in each class, with one child per class winning a £10 Waterstones book voucher!

We are inviting children to come dressed in comfy clothes to ‘curl up and read’ in – anything from PJ’s, dressing gowns, joggers or onesies – they can even bring their favourite blanket or teddy if they wish!

Thank you for your continued support in our quest to encourage a love of books in all children. Please remember that we also have our ‘Parent and Carer Book Swap’ at the main entrance of school for you to borrow books to read at home too.
