Welcome back!

WELCOME BACK FOR THE 2019/2020 SCHOOL YEAR!

Dear Parents and the Community of Lemington,

I would like to extend a warm welcome back to you all following the summer break. If you are a new family to our school I would like to extend a special welcome to you and your child!

Our brand new curriculum, designed by our staff and governors, begins today! Each half term we will have a whole-school topic theme which our staff will link to your child’s learning. This half term’s topic theme is ‘The Mighty North’ – each class will be focusing on what makes our part of the country fantastic! As parents, you will be invited in to school at the end of each half term for a celebration event sharing your child’s learning.

It has been a very busy summer here at Lemington Riverside with lots of work to improve the school for our children:

-      Our classrooms have been decorated and now have brand new computers and HD touch screens.

-      We have an improved secure main entrance with new fencing that separates the area visitors come into school from our playgrounds.

-      Our Early Years Building floor has been replaced and the building decorated and upgraded.

Although all school budgets are extremely tight at the moment, we will continue to do our best to create a learning environment in which your child can thrive.

I would to welcome Mr. Murphy who is our new Year 6 class teacher. I would also like to welcome Miss Buzzeo who will be teaching our Year 1 class for the time being as Miss Dodgson is still unwell. Miss Buzzeo was with us in Year 2 for a few weeks at the end of last term and did a super job. In the school office, we welcome Louise Chisman who is working on a voluntary basis alongside Mrs. Casey to support her in our very busy office. Louise is a very experienced Family Support Worker and will be helping us with our work to improve attendance in the school.

During the summer, one of our teaching assistants, Mrs. Pollard, left the school – we would like to wish her the very best for the future and thank her for her hard work over here years here.

Unfortunately, towards the end of the summer holiday we had significant vandalism to some of our outdoor areas in school with hundreds of pounds worth of damage caused. I would like to express a huge thank you to the community who pulled together to fundraise over £700 to help us replace the damaged equipment and repair the damage to our building. This just shows what a fabulous community we have here in Lemington. Thank you!

The children look superb in their brand new uniforms – a reminder that all children across the school are expected to wear our uniform, details of this can be found in the uniform section on our school website. All of our uniform can be purchased from Elite Embroidery at Bells Close.

We have an extremely exciting year ahead of us with lots to look forward to!

Take care.

Mr. Heeley - Head Teacher
