SEPTEMBER 2021 NEWSLETTER (2)
Dear Parents, Carers and the Lemington community,
It’s been a great first couple of weeks back here at school – the children look incredibly smart in their new uniforms and the atmosphere around the building has been great.
SLIGHT CHANGE TO MORNING ENTRANCES:
To ease congestion at the main entrance in the morning there will be some slight changes to entrances from tomorrow (Tuesday 28th September):
- Children in Years 1, 2 and 3 should continue to use the Main Entrance on Sugley Street between 8:45 and 9am.
- Children in Years 4, 5 and 6 should now enter through the double doors on the Rokeby Street side of the main building 8:45am and 9am.
There will continue to be at least one member of staff at each entrance welcoming the children into school. There is no change to our Nursery/Reception arrangements.
ANTI-BULLYING DAY:
We are pleased to confirm that this Wednesday 29th September we will be having an anti-bullying awareness day in school. All children across the school will get to work with Anti-Bullying Ambassador Ann Foxley-Johnson. Ann is well known across the country for her fantastic work around anti-bullying. We also have a parent/carer online workshop with Ann at 5pm on Wednesday – to book yourself a place on the workshop, please email admin@lemingtonriverside.newcastle.sch.uk or speak to our Family Support Worker, Paula Stones.
FOOTBALL:
Our Year 5/6 boys’ football team had their first fixtures of the season last week under the guidance of their new coach Mr. Carter. This was the first group stage of the ESFA Cup at Walbottle Academy. We won our first game 2-1 against Westgate Hill with goals from Tjay and Harry before losing our second game 0-3 against Knop Law. We didn’t get through to the next stage, but we were delighted with how our children represented us on the evening. Our girls team have their first games on Wednesday 6th October and we also have a Y3/4 tournament coming up later in the school year.
ATTENDANCE:
Following on from our attendance newsletter earlier in the term, a reminder that children must be in school by 9am in order for them to be marked ‘on time’ on the register. If, for any reason, your child is unwell and can’t attend school, please inform us by 9am either on 0191 267 4315 or by emailing admin@lemingtonriverside.newcastle.sch.uk – thanks for your support with this.
THANK YOU TO THE SEHGAL FAMILY:
On Friday we were visited by Mr. and Mrs. Sehgal, who, for many years ran the Post Office here in Lemington- their children also attended our school. The family have made a very generous donation of £2,000 towards new books for our school. We are incredibly grateful for the enormous generosity of the Sehgal family, thank you!
ARCHITECTURE DAY:
On Monday 1st November we are excited to host our first ever ‘Architecture Day’ where we will be learning about famous buildings and landmarks around the world. We will also be joined by Mr. Jennings from ‘Architecture Workshops UK’ and the children will be involved in creating some amazing structures in school!
