SEPTEMBER 2019 NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents and Carers,

It’s been a fantastic first week back at school and it’s great to see the children looking so smart in their brand new uniforms! Our new whole-school topic ‘The Mighty North’ is now under way and the class teachers have been busy creating some fantastic learning experiences for your children!

ALDI STICKERS:

We are now collecting the Aldi Team GB stickers to enable us to get new sports kit for our school as well as having the chance to win £20,000 of funding. If you spend £30 or more in Aldi you will receive a sticker – please send the sticker into school with your child and ask them to stick it on the large poster in our entrance hall. We need 300 stickers to qualify!

ATTENDANCE:

A huge thank you to parents/carers who are ensuring their children are in school on-time every day so far this school year. It is a huge priority for us and so far our attendance figures are looking much better than last year. A reminder that all children who achieve 97%+ attendance in a term take part in our end of term experience. This term it will be a Christmas-themed experience in December! We also have our weekly book hamper prizes (<< see photos) and £10 Metro Centre voucher prizes for children who are in school on time, every day.

PARENT GOVERNOR POSITION:

If you would like to support my team and I to continue making Lemington Riverside as brilliant as we can do, you may wish to consider becoming a Parent Governor. Our governing body meet regularly to support the school to achieve the very best for our children. If you are interested, please speak to Mr. Heeley or one of our current Parent Governors – Rick Gibson or Julie Foggin.

GREAT NORTH RUN 2019:

A huge well done to our Year 6 teacher Mr. Murphy and our current Year 1 teacher Miss Buzzeo who completed the Great North Run last Sunday. We are extremely proud of you both!

ATTENDANCE CHAMPIONS - SUMMER TERM 2019:

A huge well done to Miss Buzzeo’s Year 1 class who were our top attenders for the summer term. They received a £50 cheque from the EYPS Supply Agency as their reward which they will now spend on lovely new resources for their classroom!

#WeAreLemington ARTIST IN RESIDENCY:

We are delighted to confirm that we will be part of an exciting art project in Lemington this year focusing on pride in our community. The project is called #WeAreLemington and involves people from various different local community organisations and a very talented artist. Our Year 3 children enjoyed a number of art workshops as we recruited the artist who will work on the project with us. We will keep you up to date on the progress of the project, but there will be opportunities for parents/carers to be involved too!
