November 2022 Newsletter

Dear parents, carers and the Lemington community,

Riverside Wraparound

A reminder that our Riverside Wraparound provision now operates from the main building each day from 7:45am and until 6pm each evening. This is a paid for service, ran on a not for profit basis. If you need to book your child in to wraparound, please contact the office on 0191 267 4315 or admin@lemingtonriverside.newcastle.sch.uk . Please note, all wraparound sessions must be paid for in advance.

Refurbishment work

There is a lot of ongoing refurbishment and upgrade work taking place in the school – over the half term holiday the main hall floor has been replaced, this had made a huge improvement to the overall look of the hall! Building work is also ongoing to replace the children’s toilets in the main building.

Jewellery and PE:
We would just like to remind parents of the following line from our school uniform policy:

“One stud earing per ear is permitted – children should be able to remove their ear rings independently for PE lessons. We request parents/carers get children’s ears pierced outside of term time wherever possible to avoid disruption to the PE curriculum.”

School photo day:

A reminder that Wednesday 9th November is school photo day. All children will have their individual photos taken during the school day, as well as a photo with any brothers/sisters who are in school. If you have a pre-school aged child and would like them on a photo with their older siblings, please arrive at the dining hall for 8:45am – please only arrive for 8:45am at the dining hall if you have a pre-school aged child who you would like on the photo.

Sports updates:

Well done to our Year 4 dodgeball team who recently represented the school superbly in the OWL Trust competition at Simonside Primary. Well done also to our mixed and girl’s football teams who have made tremendous starts to the league season!

Remembrance Day:

We will have a range of Royal British Legion merchandise items on sale in school priced at 50p each from Monday 7th November. These will include snap bands, pencils, rubbers, etc and will be on sale each day until Friday 11th November. Please note, items will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

Santa’s tour of the Outer West:

We received exciting news that Santa and his elves will be touring the outer west again on 17th December. Santa is keen to give out as many selection boxes as possible to the children – if you’d like to donate any, you can do so at ‘Little Connie’s Kitchen’ on the corner of Rokeby Street. Santa’s route will start at The Vallum at 3:45pm and will then get to each of the following locations at approximately these times:

4:00pm - The Lemington Centre

4:15pm - Lemington Labour Club

4:30pm - Blucher

4:45pm - North Way, Throckley

5:00pm - Throckley GP Surgery

5:15pm - Mayfield Avenue, Throckley

5:30pm - Newburn Leisure Centre

5:45pm - The Engine Inn, Walbottle
