NOVEMBER 2021 NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope that you all had a nice break over the half term holiday. The second half of the autumn term is always a very busy (and exciting!) one - this letter will bring you up to speed with everything that’s happening in school over the next few weeks.
PHOTO DAY:
Next Wednesday 10th November is school photo day. We are pleased to confirm that we are able to offer families the opportunity to have group photographs again, this includes with younger siblings who do not attend our school. If you would like your child to have a group photo with their siblings, please line up at the dining room entrance from 8:30am. All children will have individual photos taken throughout the morning. Photos will be returned to school in time for you to make orders for Christmas. There is absolutely no obligation to purchase school photographs.
REMEMBRANCE DAY 2021:
We will be marking Remembrance Day in school next Thursday 11th November. In the build-up, we will have Royal British Legion merchandise on sale in school with all items priced at £1 each (stationery, snap bands, etc.) The items will be on sale at playtime from Monday 8th November with all funds raised being donated to the Royal British Legion.
COVID & GENERAL ILLNESS UPDATES:
Please do not send your child to school if they are feeling unwell – it is important you inform us by 8:45am if your child is going to be absent for any reason, either by calling 0191 267 4315 or emailing admin@lemingtonriverside.newcastle.sch.uk. If your child develops any Covid symptoms you must book them a PCR test – remember that lateral flow tests (the ones that give you a result in 30 minutes) should not be used on children who are of primary-school age. Thank you for your continued support with this.
CHILDREN IN NEED 2021:
This year’s ‘Children in Need’ day takes place on Friday 19th November. We are encouraging children to come to school in odd socks that day – they can also wear any Pudsey Bear related items they may have! Voluntary donations towards the ‘Children in Need’ charity are welcomed.
CHRISTMAS 2021:
Yes, believe it or not, it’s that time again when we begin to think about Christmas! We are pleased to confirm that we have purchased tickets for all children from Nursery to Year 6 to watch the pantomime ‘Beauty and the Beast’ at The Exchange in North Shields on Friday 3rd December. Transport will be provided and there is no charge to parents/carers for this event. Further details will be sent in a separate letter nearer the date.
We have a number of other provisional plans for Christmas events, but we are currently awaiting further guidance from the Local Authority on any Covid restrictions that may need to be in place before we can share further details.
LOCAL AUTHORITY REVIEW:
Just before half-term we were visited by a team of senior Local Authority education advisors. Their previous visit was 2 years ago and we are pleased to confirm it was a very successful visit that commented on many areas of progress that have been made during that time. Ian Dawson (Head of School Effectiveness for Newcastle City Council) commented, “You and your new leadership team have made significant improvements to the school’s curriculum and the way it is taught.” This comment reflects the work that has gone into adapting our curriculum to the new expectations of the latest Ofsted inspection framework. We are delighted with the outcomes of the visit, and will all continue to work tirelessly to make LRPS the best it can be.
