NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER 1
Dear Parents, Carers and the Lemington community,
Welcome back to a new half-term here at Lemington Riverside – I hope you all had a nice half term break, in what are difficult circumstances for us all at present.
HALF TERM FOOD HAMPERS!
I would like to start by saying a huge thank you to the Malhotra Group who provided free food hampers for all LRPS children during the half term holidays (pictured right). This was a last minute gesture following the Government’s decision not to provide any provision for families over half term. It was very much appreciated by us all.
I would also like to thank Lu Thompson and her team at ‘Coffee on the Corner’ as well as Councillor Kyle Webster for providing free children’s meals and food packages for families in need over half term.
Finally, I put a £50 ‘caffeine tab’ behind the counter at ‘Coffee on the Corner’ for parents/carers from LRPS to enjoy a hot drink on me – if you haven’t already, why not pop in before lock-down 2.0 commences!?
REPORTING COVID-19 CASES OR SYMPTOMS:
Please continue to call us on 0191 267 4315 (Mon-Fri 7:30am-4pm) or email (anytime) admin@lemingtonriverside.newcastle.sch.uk as soon as you can if:
- Your child or any member of your household develops Covid-19 symptoms (high temperature, continuous cough, loss/change of taste/smell).
- Your child or any member of your households tests positive for Covid-19.
READY, STEADY, READ – SPONSORED READING CHALLENGE:
Over half-term we challenged our children to a sponsored read to raise money to buy new books for our popular libraries. Usborne Books have very kindly agreed to also donate 60% of the amount we raise in order for us to buy even more new books! To add your child’s sponsorship money, or just to make a donation, please visit https://www.paypal.com/pools/c/8tuTZpixBU or scan the QR code.
REMEMBRANCE DAY 2020
We will be marking Remembrance Day in school on Wednesday 11th November. We now have Royal British Legion children’s merchandise on sale in school at 50p per item. If your child would like to buy something, you should send their money into school with them in a sealed envelope with their name on.
CHILDREN IN NEED 2020
This Friday 13th November is BBC Children In Need day. The focus this year is ‘Children’s Mental Health’. We will be having a non-uniform day for all children and are asking for a voluntary contribution of £1 per child. All money raised will be spent on mental health and well-being resources for our children at Lemington Riverside.
Despite the troubles in the world at the moment we are looking forward to a busy and exciting half term of learning as we lead up to Christmas. If you ever need a chat, in complete confidence, or support with any matter no matter how big or small, we are here for you. You can drop me an email directly using headteacherLRPS@gmail.com
Take care,
Mr. Heeley
