May 2023 Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,

Important: Increase to hours in school day:

The Department for Education have stipulated that from September 2023 all schools in England must offer a 32.5 hour school week. From Monday 5th June 2023, our school day at Lemington Riverside will change to the following hours every day of the week:

8:45am – Doors will open to all classrooms, free hot breakfast available in class until 9am.

9:00am – Doors close, registers taken, morning lessons start.

3:15pmNursery day ends, children should be collected from the Nursery classroom door.

3:30pmReception, Years 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 day ends.

The changes above will be every day of the week, including on a Friday from 5th June 2023 (after the half term holiday).

New boys’ toilets open!

We’re delighted to confirm that our new boys’ toilets in the main building have officially opened today! This means that all of our children’s toilets across the school have been fully replaced in the last 4 years, giving our children the high quality facilities that they deserve.

Medical Tracker
As you know, we try very hard to keep parents regularly informed about first-aid incidents and medication administration at school. Sending paper forms home can be rather ‘hit and miss’ with forms often going astray along the way. We are also increasingly aware of the substantial cost, time and environmental impact associated with the amount of paper and photocopying involved with this. To help make improvements in these areas, we have decided to use a service called Medical Tracker. Medical Tracker not only allows us to inform parents/carers of first aid incidents and medication administration by email, but it also allows us to analyse the data we record. Medical Tracker will be beneficial to you because:

  • We can record and track first-aid incidents that involve your child.
  • We can record and track medication administration that involves your child.
  • You can be notified immediately after a first-aid incident by email.
  • You can be notified immediately after medication has been administered by email To use Medical Tracker effectively, we need to collect the best email address to use to notify you of incidents. Thank you to everybody who has provided us with an up to date email address – if you haven’t already, please speak to Nicole or Jill in the office as soon as possible.

Please be assured that Medical Tracker is registered with the Data Protection Registrar and guarantees that all information you provide will be kept private and will not be passed on to any other organisation. Important – When we start using Medical Tracker, email messages will be sent from donotreply@medicaltracker.co.uk - please add this address to your email address books (or approved sender list) to prevent messages from being blocked by your SPAM/JUNK filters.

Outdoor area developments:

Our Early Years Garden re-development is now almost completed and the space is looking transformed! As our budget allows, we will continue to add to this space in the coming months and years. In the coming days, work will begin on the new sports pitch on our main playground – please note, during building works a large area of the playground will be fenced off.
