May 2022 Newsletter (2)

Dear Parents and Carers,

Here’s our second newsletter of the month with lots of information about all of the exciting events taking place in school!

Platinum Jubilee Celebrations – Friday 27th May

We very much look forward to welcoming all parents/carers/grandparents into school on the morning of Friday 27th May between 9:05 and 10:30am. You are invited to join your child in their class for some special Jubilee-themed art & craft activities! You will also be able to visit our Great British Bake-Off Café (donations of cakes/sweet treats are more than welcome!) and the Museum of Lemington Riverside, both located in the upstairs hall. We have found some fascinating old log-books and admissions books, so if you used to come to our school, you’ll be able to try and find your name!

We are also delighted to confirm that later in the day, all children will visit the Lemington Centre to take part in a Jubilee-themed cooking workshop. The Lord Mayor of Newcastle will visit the events too! Children are welcome to wear blue/white/red on the day. We’re all looking forward to a Great British occasion at LRPS!

Sports Day 2022

We are pleased to confirm that sports day returns in 2022! Due to lack of green space at LRPS, Knop Law Primary School (NE5 1DS) in Chapel House have kindly agreed to lend us their field for the morning. Sports Day takes place on Wednesday 29th June between 10am and 11:30am. Parents/carers are more than welcome to come and watch the event, but you will need to arrange your own transport to/from Knop Law. School will provide free coach travel for all children.

Well done to Year 6!

Year 6 completed their SAT tests last week – they have been busy preparing for them all year and their effort and attitude last week was nothing short of superb. We are extremely proud of them all! This week and next our Year 2 children are completing their SAT tests with Ms Turner, and straight after half term our Year 1 children complete their phonics screening and our Year 4 children complete their times table screening.
