Dear Parents and Carers,
Comic Relief (Red Nose Day):
This Friday (18th March) is Comic Relief. We have red noses on sale from the main school office between 8:45am-9am every day this week at £1.50 each – please note these will be sold on a first come, first served basis. On Friday (18th) we are having a ‘Crazy Hair’ & non uniform day in school where we are inviting all children to come to school with a crazy hair style for the day in return for a voluntary donation of £1 for Comic Relief. There will be a prize for the best crazy hair in each class! Phoenix Boutique on Rokeby Street (ran by one of our parents) also have a range of Comic Relief stock on sale including personalised t-shirts!
Y2 enjoyed a visit to the Centre for Life:
Last week, our Y2 class enjoyed a great day out at the Centre for Life in Newcastle. The children represented the school superbly and took part in a range of hands on science activities throughout the visit.
Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 visits to Beamish for Science Week:
This Wednesday (16th) (Y3/4) and Thursday (17th) (Y5/6) will be visiting Beamish Museum in County Durham as part of British Science Week. The children will explore the museum as well as taking part in a number of Science-related workshops.
Pizza & Reading Open Afternoon for Nursery, Reception & Y1 parents/carers:
Parents of children in Nursery, Reception and Year 1 are invited to join Miss Jeffcock for an open afternoon on Thursday 17th March from 2:00pm in Reception class where we will be sharing some great tips on how to help your child with their reading at home. We will also be providing free Dominos pizza for all parents/carers who come along! We look forward to seeing you there!
Lingotots:
On Monday 21st March, children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will take part in a special assembly delivered by Lingotots where they will be introduced to the French language in a fun and interactive session!
Art Open Afternoon for Year 6 parents/carers:
On Tuesday 22nd March and Tuesday 5th April, from 2:00pm, Year 6 parents/carers are invited to join us in school to work alongside your child on a special art project with some visiting artists! We can’t reveal much more right now, but there will be free Dominos pizza provided for all adults who attend!
Attendance:
A reminder that you must call us (0191 2674315) or email us (admin@lemingtonriverside.newcastle.sch.uk) by 9am if your child is going to be absent from school for any reason. Thank you for your support with this.
School Streets:
On Tuesday 29th March there will be an opportunity to speak with Ali Stansfield who is leading the consultation on School Streets (the proposal to close Sugley Street to through traffic during drop-off and pick-up each day). Ali will be located on the playground from 8:30am and if you have a view on the proposals we really encourage to come along and shared them with her.

Wednesday 16th March – Years 3 and 4 visiting Beamish Museum for Science Week activities.
Thursday 17th March – Years 5 and 6 visiting Beamish Museum for Science Week activities.
Thursday 17th March (2pm) – Open afternoon for parents of Nursery, Reception and Year 1 children with Miss Jeffcock focusing on tips to support your child with reading at home. Free pizza!
Friday 18th March – Comic Relief – Crazy hair day & non-uniform day.
Monday 21st March – Lingotots French assembly for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.
Tuesday 22nd March – Art open afternoon for Y6 parents/carers from 2pm. Free pizza!
Tuesday 29th March – School Streets Day. From 8:30am speak to a member of the School Streets team on the playground and give your views about School Streets.
Thursday 31st March – Year 5 OWL Trust Athletics Tournament at Newburn Leisure Centre.
Friday 1st April – Year 4 Bikeability.
Friday 1st April – Parent/carer coffee morning with visiting speakers from Citizens Advice (09:30 – 10:30).
Tuesday 5th April – Art open afternoon for Y6 parents/carers from 2pm. Free pizza!
Friday 8th April – We break up for the Easter Holidays.
