Important Covid-19 information for parents/carers

16th June 2021
This morning we have been informed that three children (1 in Nursery, 1 in Year 4, 1 in Year 6) have tested positive for Covid-19.
As always in these situations, we immediately speak with Public Health England, who then advise us on the next steps we have to take. These are as follows:
  • In the case of children in Nursery/Reception - these children do not sit in set places in class due to their age and the way an Early Years setting works. Therefore, close contacts of the positive case are not possible to ascertain, so all children in Nursery and Reception have been asked to self-isolate as a precaution and seek a PCR test.
  • In the case of children in other year groups - from Year 1 and above - we have seating plans in all classrooms, therefore we can quickly identify those children who have been close contacts of the child who tested positive (i.e. within 2 metres, for 15 minutes or more). The parents/carers of the children identified as close contacts have been informed.
If your child is asked to self-isolate, you and other members of your household do not need to self-isolate as well unless anybody develops symptoms - this includes other siblings who may attend our school.
If you, your child or any member of your household develops Covid-19 symptoms (new persistent cough, high temperature, loss/change of taste or smell), you should self-isolate immediately and request a PCR test. It is strongly advised that all household members seek a PCR test.
If your child is asked to self-isolate we will:
- Provide work for them on Seesaw or Tapestry that can be accessed remotely.
- Send you a supermarket voucher if your child is entitled to benefit-related free school meals.
Thank you for your continued support as we continue to keep our community as safe as we can in these difficult circumstances.
