LEMINGTON FESTIVAL 2019 & OUR NEW LOGO LAUNCH:

In school this half term we are all building up to the Lemington Festival which takes place on Saturday 29th June between 11am and 2pm.

We are really excited about the festival as it will be the day that we ‘officially’ unveil our brand new Lemington Riverside logo! We are delighted that the new Lord Mayor of Newcastle will be unveiling the new logo at 11am! This will happen at the corner of Sugley Street and Tyneview. We would love for as many of our parents and children to be there!

The new logo was a joint design by Jack Appleby and Daniel Maddison from Year 6. It contains our famous chimney as well as references to the River Tyne that runs past Lemington. Many of our children also included our hashtag #WeAreLemington and that has been included too! You will see our brand new signs being installed over the next few weeks.

Across school each class is learning about a different aspect of the Lemington community or our history. There will be a number of exhibitions of children’s work and stalls on the day of the festival around school. On our playground we will also host stalls from a range of local businesses where they will be arts, crafts, food and much more to buy! It should be an excellent day for the Lemington community!

PARENTS EVENING AND END OF YEAR REPORTS:

There be the chance for you to meet with your child’s class teacher on the evenings of Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd July between 3:30pm and 6pm. We will also be offering the opportunity for parents to have a telephone or email update if this is preferred.

End of year school reports for all children will be sent home on the evening of Monday 1st July. We have re-designed our end of year reports this with much focus on the personal comments on your child as we know this is the part of the report that parents enjoy reading the most.

SPORTS DAY 2019:

We are delighted to confirm that we will be holding a sports day this year as was requested by a lot of parents earlier in the year. We would like to thank our friends at Knop Law Primary School (Hillhead Parkway, NE5 1DS) who have kindly agreed to lend us their school field on the morning of Tuesday 16th July 2019. We will be providing free coach transport for all of our children to and from Knop Law on the day. We cannot provide transport for parents/families, but we would love as many of you to join us at Knop Law as possible. There will be refreshments on sale during the sports day with all profits made going towards buying resources for our children in school. Exact timings will be confirmed nearer the date.

TEACHER TRAINING DAYS 2019/2020:

We can confirm that teacher training days for the next school year will be on the following dates (school is closed to children on all of these days).

-      Monday 2nd September 2019.

-      Friday 20th December 2019.

-      Monday 1st June 2020.

-      Tuesday 2nd June 2020.

We have specifically chosen 1st and 2nd June to support our families in getting cheaper holidays than in term time. Flights and hotels booked from Monday 25th May – Monday 1st June and Tuesday 26th May – Tuesday 2nd June are much cheaper than in term time. We obviously want our children in school as much as possible, but also appreciate how much more expensive holidays are in the school holidays. We hope this helps and that you will be able to take advantage of it if you wish to.

IMPROVING OUR BUILDING:

A number of works are currently being carried out and planned to be carried over the next few weeks and months to make our building as brilliant as possible, including:

-      Brand new floor and toilet facilities in the Early Years Building (this will be completed by September 2019).

-      New replacement windows for all those that were broken across school.

-      Freshly painted classrooms for September 2019.

-      Brand new HD touch-screens in each classroom, replace the old Smart Boards from September 2019.

-      Improved security at our entrance and exit points.

-      Brand new signage around the school to coincide with our new logo launch.
