Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to inform you that there have been a number of isolated cases of Covid-19 within the local community during the past few days. Some people from our school with links to those cases have been advised to self-isolate as a precaution.

I would like to reassure you that no pupils or staff at Lemington Riverside have developed symptoms of or tested positive for Covid-19.

We have been in contact with Public Health England and Newcastle City Council who assure us that all of the correct procedures have been followed by school. The school remains Covid-secure and our in depth risk assessment (available to view on our website) outlines the many measures we are taking to keep our children, staff and parents/carers safe.

Children should continue to attend school as normal – if your child or anybody in your household develops any of the symptoms of Covid-19 (high temperature, new continuous cough, loss or change to your sense of smell or taste) you should self-isolate, seek a test and inform school at the earliest convenience. Please ensure you continue to socially distance from others at the beginning and the end of the school day to keep everybody safe.

The latest Government advice states that people from different households should not mix in groups larger than 6 – please continue to follow this advice to help prevent further spread of Covid-19 within our community. We advise that you continue to follow the social distancing guidelines, as well as wearing face masks when indoors or busy spaces and washing your hands with hot water and soap regularly.

Over the past 6 months the community of Lemington have been amazing in their response to Covid-19. We have pulled together to support each other, displayed rainbows in our windows, flown bunting in the streets to support the NHS and now, more than ever, it’s important that we continue to follow these guidelines to keep everybody safe.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. Heeley
