At Lemington Riverside we believe that homework at primary school should be fun and engaging for children. We firmly believe parents/carers should work together with their children on their homework as this allows children to talk about and extend their learning from the classroom back at home.
That is why every half term, each class across the school is provided with a 'Homework Menu'. A homework menu contains a number of challenges that can be completed at home. Each challenge involves a different curriculum area (e.g. the arts, English, Science, Maths, PE, Geography, etc.)
We expect all children to complete at least one challenge per half term - but they can complete as many challenges as they wish. For every homework challenge completed to a good standard, your child will be awarded 5 house points.
Homework challenges will be handed out on the first Monday of every half term and due back on the final week of the half term.
We actively encourage parents/carers to work alongside their children with their homework menu challenges. We also offer a free homework club between home time and 3:15pm every Friday - all children are welcome to attend - to register your child for homework club, please contact the office.
Throughout the term your child will also receive weekly spellings and times tables to practise at home. We also expect children to read every evening and get their reading records signed by an adult.
If you need another copy of your child's homework menu for this term, please speak to your child's class teacher.
