February 2023 Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a busy start to the spring term here at Lemington Riverside! Here are the latest updates from school and what’s coming up:

‘DRESS TO EXPRESS’ DAY FOR CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH WEEK:

This week we are marking ‘Children’s Mental Health Week’ here at LRPS. Throughout the week the children will be taking part in activities where they will be learning more about the importance of looking after our mental health. This Friday 10th February we will be joining schools across the country in ‘Dress to Express’ day – children are welcome to come to school in any clothes that represent themselves. This might be wearing their favourite colour, their favourite outfit or the colours of their favourite team. No voluntary donation is requested.

BLACK AND WHITE DAY:

There has been lots of excitement following Newcastle United making their first Wembley appearance since 1999! To mark this special event for our city, we will be having a ‘Black and White Day’ on the final day of term – Friday 17th February. Children are welcome to wear something black or white/or Newcastle United related on that day if they wish. We will also be recording a special song on the day – keep an eye on our social media channels!

WORLD BOOK DAY 2023:

We will be celebrating World Book Day here at LRPS on Thursday 2nd March. On this day, children can come to school in their PJ’s/a onesie/comfortable clothes as during the day we will be enjoying lots of extra story times! Children are also to bring to school their favourite book if they wish. We will be joined in school by a very special visitor on World Book Day too!

SPORT UPDATES:

Our girls’ football team continue to have a very impressive season. Last Thursday they won two and drew one in their latest league fixtures. A special well done to Aayva Maghie who scored all of our goals on the evening and Rihanna Walker for keeping three clean sheets in goal!

COFFEE MORNING:

Our next parent/carer coffee morning takes place on Tuesday 28th February, 9:15-10:15am. There will be free hot drinks and sweet treats. The focus of this coffee morning will be supporting your child’s mental health; we will be joined by special guests from Children North East.
