Easter 2023 Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we approach the end of a very busy spring term at Lemington Riverside, here are some updates from school:

THE GREAT LEMINGTON RIVERSIDE EASTER EGG RAFFLE 2023:

Thank you to everybody who has donated Easter eggs for our raffle that takes place this Thursday 30th March. All children have received one free strip of raffle tickets each so that everybody is in with the chance of winning a prize. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased between 8:45 and 9am every morning this week up until Thursday at £1 per strip. All money raised from the raffle goes towards paying for educational trips and visits for our children.

CONGRATULATIONS!

We would like to congratulate Miss Dobson and Mr. Brown who have completed their teaching assistant apprenticeships with us over the past 18 months. It has been an absolute pleasure working with them both and watching them develop as teaching assistants. Whilst we will miss them, we know that they are going to be hugely successful in their new jobs that they have secured.

SUPERMARKET VOUCHERS:

Newcastle City Council are providing £30 supermarket vouchers for all children entitled to income-related free school meals this Easter holiday. Vouchers will be sent out to those eligible via text message/email tomorrow (Tuesday 28th March). If you haven’t previously been entitled to free school meals, but your circumstances have changed, please speak to us in school and we can advise how you can check your entitlement.

EASTER HOLIDAYS:

We break up for the Easter holidays at the normal time on Thursday 30th March and return to school on Monday 17th April.

READ, WRITE, INC.

From after the Easter holidays we will be moving to a brand new scheme for the teaching of early reading and writing in school called ‘Read, Write, Inc’. ‘Read, Write, Inc’ is used by thousands of schools around the world and is proven to get great results. In the coming weeks and months we will be communicating more with parents/carers about ‘Read, Write, Inc’ and how you can support your child with their reading and writing at home.
