EASTER NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents, Carers and the Community of Lemington Riverside Primary School,

I am sure that you will agree that the last couple of weeks have been some of the most challenging and unusual of our lives so far. I would like to place on record my enormous thanks to YOU – the parents/carers of our children for your 100% support and understanding during these difficult times.

I would also like to place on record a huge thank you to my staff team here at Lemington Riverside – many of whom have been coming into school during the lock-down to continue to provide child-care for those children of our essential key workers.

We have loved receiving updates from your children including many photos of what they have been up to at home – you can still send through updates to headteacherLRPS@gmail.com

FREE SCHOOL MEALS:

We have been delivering free school meal packed lunches for the past two weeks to those children who are entitled and requested a delivery (Thank you to Mrs. Carver and all of her kitchen team for their hard work). The final day of deliveries will be Friday 3rd April 2020. The Government now have a supermarket voucher system in place from after the Easter Holidays. If your child is entitled to benefit-related Free School Meals, they will receive their voucher on MONDAY 20th APRIL along with a letter which will explain how further weekly vouchers can be obtained.

Please note that the supermarket voucher offer is only available for children on benefit-related free school meals.

EASTER EGG COMPETITION:

Well done to everybody who has entered our Easter boiled egg design competition. Children were challenged to create a ‘key worker’ in dedication to the front line staff who have kept our country running at this tricky time. The judging will take place tomorrow (Friday 3rd April) with the Senior Leadership Team and the winning entry from each category (Early Years, Y1/Y2, Y3/Y4, Y5/Y6) will have a special prize delivered to their door-step tomorrow! We will be sharing all of the entries on our social media pages and tagging in the NHS, etc!

GUIDANCE FOR WORKING AT HOME WITH YOUR CHILD:

There are seven weeks of work and activities on our website in the ‘Pupils’ section to keep your child busy right up until the May half term holiday. This is in addition to the paper work packs that our children brought home before school closed. If we are off for further weeks, we will add more home working packs to our school website. We will no longer be delivering home working packs in order to minimise the risk to our staff.

WHEN WILL SCHOOL RE-OPEN?

The honest answer to this question is we really don’t know. We won’t speculate and will continue to follow Government advice. Once we have any further updates, we will always update our website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages – so please follow them closely.

CHILD-CARE PROVISION:

We continue to offer child-care provision for children of key workers who are critical in the response to COVID-19, along with children with an allocated Social Worker and those children who have an Education Health Care Plan. This child-care will begin again from Monday 20th April following the Easter Break. You must call school in advance to book your children on to this provision and speak directly to Mr. Heeley (Head Teacher) to confirm your place, as we are understandably running the school on a much reduced staff to keep as many people at home as possible. You will be asked to provide proof that you are a key worker by means of a letter from your employer.

AND FINALLY…

A huge thank you for your warm words and positivity over the past few weeks. My team and I really appreciate it and will continue working as hard as we can for you and your families at this difficult time.

I live a long way from my own family back down in Derbyshire, and I have felt that you guys have been a family to us all over the past few weeks and helped keep a smile on my face.

I will be in touch again after the Easter Holidays.

Take care,

Mr. Heeley

Head Teacher
