APRIL 2021 NEWSLETTER
Dear parents and carers,
Firstly, I hope you have all had a great Easter break – we were delighted to welcome back all of our children this morning. We would also like to wish a special welcome to new children families who are joining our school this week – you are all very welcome!
FRIDAY HOMEWORK CLUB
From this Friday 23rd April, we will be re-launching our after-school homework club that takes place every Friday between 2:15pm and 3:15pm. The club is open to all children across the school and is staffed by our teaching assistants. If your child attends, they will be supported to completed their homework menu tasks as well as benefiting from extra reading with our teaching assistants, access to the ICT suite for educational purposes and other creative activities. This is a free after-school club and if you would like your child to attend, you must complete a consent form for your child to attend - forms have been sent home on the paper version of this letter - if you need another copy please call the office on 0191 267 4315. Children should be collected at 3:15pm from the Main Playground (where the basketball hoops are).
RIVERSIDE WRAP-AROUND
Our ‘Riverside Wrap-Around’ before and after school wrap-around provision has now launched and we are taking bookings for the remainder of this term up until July 2021. We offer child-care provision, staffed by our qualified teaching assistants daily before school from 7:45am and after school until 5:15pm. We are proud to offer very competitive rates compared to other local providers of childcare and wrap-around provision. To book, you will need to complete a booking form – these are available on our website by clicking here.
CHANGES IN THE SCHOOL OFFICE
Mrs. Casey, who has worked at our school for a decade, has secured an exciting new role with Northumbria Police. We would like to congratulate Mrs. Casey on her new job, and whilst we are sad that she is leaving, we are pleased that she is moving on to an exciting new challenge. I am sure that you will all join me in wishing Mrs. Casey the very best in her new adventure, she will be missed by us all at Lemington Riverside. Mrs. Casey will leave her post on Friday 30th April.
We are in the process of appointing replacement staff members for our office, details of which can be found in the vacancies section of our school website.
INTERNATIONAL LINKS AT LEMINGTON RIVERSIDE!
We are delighted to announce our first international partnership as we link up with Le ken Linge School, near Utrecht in the Netherlands. Over the summer term we will be taking part in a ‘virtual’ exchange with our friends in Holland – this week the children will receive letters from their Dutch counterparts and we will be writing letters back in the coming weeks. In the future, once Covid-19 restrictions ease, we hope to welcome our Dutch friends to Lemington Riverside and take our own pupils to visit Holland. In the photo below are Mr. Stijntjes and Ms Bloemen, two of the teachers from the school who have the letters for our Lemington Riverside children ready to post!
Take care,
Mr. Heeley
